Carlisle’s trip to Jesmond ended in frustration as the visitors slipped to a narrow 2–1 defeat after a difficult first half left them chasing the game.

Jesmond started sharply and made their early pressure count, striking twice before the break. Carlisle struggled to settle, with gaps appearing in midfield and the defence repeatedly tested. The hosts capitalised with two well-taken goals, putting Carlisle firmly on the back foot heading into half-time.

The second half saw a much-improved Carlisle performance. With greater urgency and control, they pushed Jesmond deeper and began creating chances of their own. Their efforts were rewarded when Captain Nixon found the net, pulling a goal back and setting up a tense final period.

Despite sustained pressure and a handful of half-chances, Carlisle couldn’t find the equaliser. Jesmond held firm to secure the win, leaving Carlisle to reflect on a slow start that ultimately proved costly.

Gil stood out as Carlisle’s Man of the Match, delivering a strong and consistent performance throughout. Meanwhile, George earned the unwanted “DoD” honour after controversially volunteering to play for Jesmond.
