Against an energetic Wigton side Carlisle made skill and class tell from the very beginning of this game and soon stamped their authority with neat passing moves triggered by the expertise of Olivia Palmer, Bella Tiffen-Lowe and India McCartney in midfield.
Carlisle’s twin strikers Minnie Jackson and Thalia Kasiera were causing havoc and the Wigton defence struggled to keep them at bay. Soon Carlisle was two up through a brace from Thalia.
In a totally dominant first half, in which the Wigton keeper was kept busy Carlisle added two more goals through Emily Marr and Bella Tiffen-Lowe.
After the interval Wigton tried hard in an attempt to reduce the arrears but the Carlisle defence well marshalled by the imposing figure of Sam Wrightson and the ice-cool Hattie Spedding repelled all with some comfort.
It was Hattie, pushing up into midfield in the last quarter, who added Carlisle’s fifth and final goal with a surgical strike from a tight angle.
To Wigton’s credit, they never gave up at any point in the game, but Carlisle was just too accomplished on the day.
